Manny Charlton: The Final Show – Live in Nuremberg, 2017
In 2022, the music world mourned the sudden loss of Manny Charlton, renowned for his time with the legendary band Nazareth. Shortly after his passing, Liam was approached by one of Manny’s close friends, Werner Temmel, who revealed that Manny had captured his final live performance with The Manny Charlton Band, based in Spain. Manny expressed his satisfaction with the band’s sound, likening it to the classic Nazareth era, and envisioned recording their German tour dates in 4K video with synced audio from the mixing desk for a promotional DVD.
Tragically, Manny’s untimely passing prevented the completion of this project. In 2023, Liam was asked to produce a DVD to honor Manny’s final commitments. However, the desk recordings were lost amid the complexities of Manny’s estate dealings, along with unreleased tracks and a finished, mastered record yet to be released.
Despite challenges, Liam managed to salvage audio from two portable audience recorders, crafting a “Matrix” mix to capture the essence of the live performance. However, legal disputes within Manny’s estate led to the project being scrapped.
Despite these setbacks, Liam recognized the significance of the concert for dedicated fans and decided to stream it online. Recorded live on November 11, 2017, at The Cult in Nuremberg, Germany, the concert featured Maikel De La Riva on rhythm guitar, Charley Rivera on bass guitar, Antonio Bravo on drums, Manuel Escudero on vocals, and Manny Charlton on lead guitar.
